5) Nigiri duel – Sea Me The original Sea Me, in Chiado, is an ode to the ocean. Viewed by many as one of the best exemplars of Pad Thai in town, this one from Asian Lab also comes in a vegetarian variant with tofu, or ones with chicken or prawns. 4) Pad Thai – Asian Lab This is one of the most renowned dishes of Thai cuisine, which by a happy coincidence is also one of the favourite culinary traditions of Maurício Vale, the chef who created the whole Asian Lab menu. The fish and shellfish from the nearby coast are there, of course, but also the most famous house dish: hake fillets with cockle rice. 3) Hake fillets with cockle rice – Monte Mar The Monte Mar in the Time Out Market is a smaller version of the original restaurant outside Cascais but has almost everything but the waves. The egg yolks added just before serving give it a divine creaminess. This classic codfish dish could feature in any compendium of Portuguese cuisine and the chef from Porto remains faithful to tradition, preparing it with hand cut fried potatoes, well shredded cod and onions. ![]() 2) Bacalhau à brás – Chef Miguel Castro e Silva You can’t mess with a winning dish. The crunchiness comes from the fried potato peel. ![]() This “Polvo à lagareiro in new textures” is a reinterpretation of a classic of Portuguese cuisine, in which the octopus is cooked in red wine and served with roast potatoes and baby spinach. 1) Polvo à lagareiro in new textures – Chef Marlene Vieira This is one of chef Marlene Vieira’s most iconic dishes and one of the ingredients (octopus) that she most enjoys working with (see her famous pataniscas – fritters). In the month that Time Out Market celebrates nine years of existence, we make a list of nine must-try dishes. But contrary to what the title suggests, we say: “It is go!” June 28, 8.30 pm. It is composed of ingredients such as Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, Mancino Sakura, lime and grapefruit juice, aloe vera and celery cordial and grapefruit soda. To accompany this intense night, we suggest a cocktail with a complex, aromatic and smoky flavour, but with a very refreshing finish. Every month, this is where salseros gather to engage in the queen of Latin dances. They are on the last Wednesday of the month (next on 28 June) from 8.30 p.m. NoGo! (€13) Not that there is any need to bring even more spices to Time Out Market, but salsa nights usually spice up the Market a lot. This cocktail is made with rum, Aperol, vanilla, passion fruit, pineapple juice, lime and raspberry syrup. ![]() Espaço Baião are responsible for this night dedicated to Samba de Gafieira, a ballroom style of the dance in pairs, which, like forró, is part of Brazil’s cultural DNA. ![]() When the samba plays in the food hall, nobody can stand still and watch the pairs of dancers gliding on the improvised dance floor. Bird Macumba (€13) We chose this complex, aromatic and quite refreshing cocktail to accompany the samba nights at the Market, where there is always a lot of magic involved, only it’s not black. This most refreshing cocktail on our summer menu is the best option to cool down from the heat of dancing.īaião night at the Market takes place on June 7, from 8.30pm to midnight. This Time Out Bar signature cocktail includes vodka, Limoncello, apple juice, basil, ginger and ginger beer. Beyond the Mule (€12) As refreshing as a night of lively Brazilian forró music, this cocktail is perfect to accompany the rhythms of this night at the Market. We chose three and matched them with three events that are to take place in June in the food hall. The Time Out Bar team welcomes the summer with a new menu of refreshing lighter cocktails, as you would want at this time of year.
